Owings M
This guitar is made using walnut and maple, triple layered similar to the Victoria guitar. It has an offset body shape that vaguely resembles a Fender Mustang but the scale length is 25 inches and the headstock is my own shape. The triple layering makes it unnecessary to have a arm cutout although there is a belly cut for comfort.
The positioning and wiring of the three lipstick-style pickups is different than the usual three single-coil. The middle and bridge pickups are positioned to be at the "sweet spots" of the 4th and 8th harmonics. Also, the position 2 and 4 combine the neck/middle and middle/bridge in series, yielding a sound similar to humbucker pickups. |
Mini M
I've also made a smaller version. This version is flat (though a contoured version can be made). Maple fretboard with walnut body. It has two pickups that happen to be humbuckers though single coils could be used. It has two volume controls: one for each pickup, allowing the two to be blended any way you want. (A switch could be used instead added wherever.)
